Employee Highlight - Joe

Meet our very own GI Joe - Joe Chenevert. A graduate of SpaTech Institute, Joe is a full time therapist at Pax Massage. While we like to tease Joe with the nickname he really is a GI Joe of the massage industry, specializing in many different modalities:  Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, Hot Stone and Pregnancy massage. He also specializes in many techniques within each modality, such as trigger point, range of motion, neuromuscular and myofascial release. Joe really analyzes each client that comes in and determines the proper techniques to get at what the real problem is. Moreover, he will thoroughly explain the anatomy with what is going on with each client, the proper follow up plan and the reason why he used certain techniques during the session. Joe's clients always leave happy, relaxed and feeling better than when they came in.

Prior to becoming a massage therapist Joe was looking to go back to school as a Holistic Practitioner. His father had expressed that he was interested in going to school for massage therapy and asked if he would like to check it out with him. He was reluctant but thought it couldn't hurt so they headed up to Spa Tech Institute in Westbrook, ME. While there he got an almost overwhelming feeling similar to a déjà vu that felt to him like he was meant to be there. If you'd ask him the best thing that he took away from massage school, he would tell you: "I never realized how malnourished and deficient of touch I really was. It was foreign to me like any language and I had to learn how to speak it."

Joe has a passion for healing people, and is constantly amazed by the healing effects massage has on others. Joe brings a wonderfully relaxing massage along with the ability to bring relief from everyday and prolonged physical stress. His combination of soothing strokes with pauses of deep pressure techniques will leave you feeling like new.
